KXKT (103.7 FM) is an American radio station broadcasting a Country music format.[1] Licensed to Glenwood, Iowa, USA, the station serves the Omaha area. The station is owned by iHeartMedia, Inc. and licensed as Capstar TX LLC.[2]
KXKT started as KJAN, an album rock station. It gradually moved to Top 40, competing against KQKQ Sweet 98. The call letters changed to KOMJ in 1988 and then to KXKT in 1990. Struggling against Sweet 98, the station played more and more alternative rock music, with many listeners expecting a format flip. That happened in 1992, but instead of alternative as expected, it switched to country, keeping the Paramount nickname and branding, as well as the same on-air staff, a rarity in the radio industry, where flipping formats usually results in new branding and on-air staffs.
KXKT is licensed by the U.S. Federal Communications Commission to broadcast in the HD (hybrid) format.[3]
