Kabary Salem is a former professional boxer who fought Joe Calzaghe for the WBO super middleweight title in October 2004. Salem managed to knock Calzaghe down in the 4th round, however he lost the contest on points. He also fought Lucian Bute and lost the fight by TKO in the 8th round, Kabary retired after that loss.[1]
Kabary is regarded as one of the dirtiest fighters of all time, having regularly used headbutts, which, in one occasion, caused the death of his opponent Randie Carver in 1999.[2][3][4] Salem expressed no regrets for the accident and continued the same tactics in future fights. On one occasion, against German boxer Mario Veit, he broke the nose of the referee with an accidental head-butt.[5]
