Katkamsandi is a community development block that forms an administrative division in the Hazaribagh Sadar subdivision of Hazaribagh district in the Indian state of Jharkhand.
Geography
Katkamsandi is located at 24°6′27″N 85°12′24″E / 24.10750°N 85.20667°E.[1]
Demographics
As per 2011 Census of India Katkamsandi CD Block had a total population of 108,361, of which 95,513 were rural and 18,848 were urban. There were 55,413 males and 52,948 females. Scheduled Castes numbered 22,699 and Scheduled Tribes numbered 7,141. [2]
Palawa is a census town in Katkamsandi CD Block.[2]
Literacy
As per 2011 census the total number of literates in Katkamsandi CD Block was 60,375 out of which 35,347 were males and 25,028 were females.[2]
Transportation
The 79.7 km long first stage railway project from Koderma to Hazaribagh costing Rs. 936 crore was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 20 February 2015. The railway line passes through the Katkamsandi CD Block and there is a station at Katkamsandi.[3]
