Kim Ji-yeon (Hangul: 김지연; born March 20, 1995), commonly known by her stage name Kei, is a South Korean singer and actress. She made her debut as a main vocalist of South Korean girl group Lovelyz in 2014.[1] She made her acting debut as the female lead in the web drama Matching! Boys Archery in 2016.
Biography
Kei was born Kim Ji-yeon on March 20, 1995 in Incheon, South Korea.[2][3] Her family consists of her parents and her older sister, Kim Min-ji. She graduated from Incheon Youngsun High School.
On December 27, 2013, Kei fellow with Lovelyz member Baby Soul, Jiae, Jisoo, Mijoo, JIN and Sujeong made an appearance at the 2013 KBS Gayo Daejun television broadcast. They were female dancers for Infinite's "Man in Love" performance.
Career
2014–15: Debut with Lovelyz
Kei was debuted as main vocalist in 2014. The group made official debut on M! Countdown on November 13, 2014.
On October 26, 2015 Kei and Lovelyz member Yein were guests on Hello Counselor along with Hong Seok-cheon and Lee Jihyeon. On November 14, 2015 Kei and Lovelyz member Sujeong appeared on My Little Television as Yoon Sang's guests. On December 23, 2015 Kei, Sujeong, and fellow member Jisoo were guests on the Weekly Idol Christmas special along with GFriend and Twice.[4]On December 29, 2015 Kei and Lovelyz members Sujeong, Jin, and Mijoo appeared on Two Yoo Project Sugar Man along with Twice. Lovelyz performed "Thick Lipstick" by Lim Juri.[5]In the same months, Kei released the song "Love Like That" for the soundtrack of the KBS drama Oh My Venus.[6]
2016–present: Solo activities
On March 11, 2016 Kei was a guest on People Full of Capacity along with Twice's Momo. Kei expressed her love for the food jokbal and made a jokbal-themed song by using Lovelyz's song "Ah Choo" and Twice's song "Ohh Ahh".[7] In April 2016, Kei was cast in the female lead role of the web drama Matching! Boys Archery.[8]On June 6, 2016 Kei appeared on My Little Television. On June 26, 2016 it was announced that Kei would appear on Girl Spirit, a competition among K-pop girl group main vocals who hadn't yet gotten the spotlight. The first episode ofGirl Spirit aired on July 19, 2016.[9]On October 27, Kei released collaboration single Beautiful with The Solutions, as a part of HIGHGRND's project PLAYGRND.[10]
