Keith Ferrazzi is an American author, public speaker, and the founder and CEO of Ferrazzi Greenlight, a Los Angeles, California-based research and consulting firm.[1] He is perhaps best known for writing the business networking book Never Eat Alone.[2]

Life and career

Early life and education

Ferrazzi grew up in Pennsylvania, the son of a steelworker and cleaning lady. His father was able to talk The Kiski School outside of Pittsburgh, PA into giving him a full scholarship.[3] Ferrazzi then attended Yale University, where he founded the Sigma Chi chapter there. He later attended Harvard Business School.[4]

Business career

After graduating from Harvard, he joined management consulting firm Deloitte as an entry level analyst, and rose through the company to eventually sit on the executive committee, including getting nominated as partner.[5] At age 32, he was hired by Starwood Hotels to be their chief marketing officer (CMO), and was reportedly the youngest CMO in the Fortune 500.[5] In 2000, he left Starwood to found YaYa Media, an entertainment and marketing company, which he sold to investment company American Vantage in 2003.[5][4]

Ferrazzi Greenlight

Ferrazzi left YaYa Media to found Ferrazzi Greenlight, a Los Angeles-based strategic consulting firm, and its associated Greenlight Research Institute. The firm and Institute focus on the importance of positive relationships to business success.[6]

Networking and publishing

Ferrazzi has been described as a master "networker."[4][7] His first book, Never Eat Alone, was based on his networking experiences.[1] The book was published in 2005 and became a NY Times best seller.[7] His second book, Who's Got Your Back?, was published in 2009 and was a NY Times #1 best seller.[8] He has also written articles on networking and management for the Harvard Business Review.[9][10]
