Yount was selected as the flag bearer in the opening ceremony before earning Olympic gold at the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics in Nanjing, as the only taekwondo representative for the United States. [5]

She also represented the US at the Pan American Games in 2012, winning a gold medal for her country.

Yount received a gold medal at the Costa Rica Open (2012) in the senior division (18–32 years of age).[6] At 13, she won gold at the 2012 National Championships, in the world class senior light weight division.[7] Yount qualified for the senior team trials of the United States by winning bronze at the Senior Nationals in 2014.[8]
