Kendriya Vidyalaya, Pattom
Kendriya Vidyalaya Pattom is an educational institution in Thiruvananthapuram, the capital city of Kerala State. It was established in 1964 as a civil sector school affiliated to CBSE.
The institution is situated in the heart of the city in a site extending to five acres. There are two shifts from Class I to Class XII, with a roll of 3547 students and 111 staff.
The First Shift has all the three streams - Science (two sections), Commerce and Humanities (one section each) - while the Second Shift has only Science and Commerce streams (one section each). The year 2014 was the golden jubilee year for Kendriya Vidyalaya Pattom.
History
Construction began in 1964 following a gift of five acres of land by the government of Kerala with the new buildings opening in 1968. In 1969 the first batch of Higher Secondary Student (Class XI) completed their courses. In 1977 a "10+2" system started. In 1982 a new science block was opened. The school was declared as a Model KV in 1996. In 1998 the primary block was inaugurated. On 10 September 2004 the second shift was introduced. In April 2008 a fully automated library was inaugurated. In 2009 the institution won the KVS-Intel Technology in Education Award for Schools. In 2010 the Online Academic Social Networking Project Library Junction won the NCERT National Innovation and Experimentation Award. at 2015 and 2016 the school won no.1 in india
