Kentucky Route 2268 (KY 2268) is a 1.388-mile-long (2.234 km) state highway in the U.S. state of Kentucky and is a former route of KY 55. The route is located entirely in Shelbyville.
Route description
The route originates at the end of Seventh Street in Downtown Shelbyville. It heads north and crosses over Clear Creek and passes the Shelby County Detention Center on the left with houses lining the road on the right. At Burks Branch Road, the route meets a caution light and turns to the right and heads northwest. It continues through a residential area passing multiple streets lined with houses before coming to its eastern terminus at KY 43/KY 55 Business.
History
The current route of KY 2268 is a former alignment of KY 55.[2] KY 2268 didn't exist until KY 55 was rerouted further south and west through Shelbyville during the 1990s. The former route of KY 55 was resigned as KY 2268.[3][4]
