Kethepally is a Village and one of the Mandals in the Nalgonda district of India.
History
The original name of the Kethepally was Suvarnagiri (Telugu: సువర్ణగిరి). Since the agriculture is the main profession of the people Suvarnagiri has been changed to Kethepally (Telugu: కేతేపల్లి) (keth = agriculture) (pally = town). Kethepally is located between Suryapet and Nakrekal along the National Highway No. 9, about 30 km from the district headquarters Nalgonda. The Highway number has been changed from 9 to 65 after expanding the road to Four lanes.
Geography
Kethepally has beautiful natural lake (Telugu: చెరువు) to the west and a canal (Telugu: కాలువ) coming from Musi river to the east. The Musi river is 5 kilometers away from the Kethepally. Fishing and boating is commonly seen in Musi river. Channa Marulius (Telugu: కొర్రమేను) and Rava fish (Telugu: రవ్వ) are very popular fish available in Musi river. Musi river is very popular picnic spot for students, teachers, youth and villagers.
Education
Kethepally has the following schools. (1) Government Primary School (2) Zilla Parishad High School (ZPHS) (3) St. Elizabeth Upper Primary School (Aided School) (4) De Paul School (Catholic Private School)
Religion
Catholic, Hindu and Muslim religions are popular in this village. Kethepally has one of the biggest catholic churches (Rosary Church) in Nalgonda district built by Fr. Kanchel who came from Italy. Later two parish priests (Fr. Carlo Bommino & Fr. Romano) worked for long time who also came from Italy. The church looks like a great Monument and great attraction to the village and the people traveling on the Highway 9 (now 65). The village festival (Telugu: ముగ్గురు రాజుల పండుగ) is celebrated on 6 January every year. There will be a procession of three kings on 5 January. After the procession there will be a cultural activities on a day before the festival. Mr. Jojappa plays the role of the King Herodh. Until 1990 Vanta Anthaiah (Telugu: వంట అంతయ్య) used to play the King Herodh role. Both Jojappa and Vanta Anthaiah (Telugu: వంట అంతయ్య) are amazing artists. Until 1990 Late Guddinti Innaiah (Telugu: గుద్దింటి ఇన్నయ్య) used to play Hormonium for three kings play. Now Mr. Roman is playing Hormonium for three kings play. As we see sheep in Manger (Telugu: పశువుల కొట్టం), Golla community thinks that this God (Infant Jesus) has importance to their community during Christmas. Hence Hindus especially Golla community take part in village festival by offering offerings (Telugu: కానుకలు) to the church. Hindus also have a Temple in Kethepally village.
Bodrai Festival బొడ్రాయి పండుగ (నాభి శిల) (గ్రామదేవత)
Bodrai festival was celebrated on 8, 9 and 10 May 2014 in Kethepally village very grand. All the villagers offered clothes to their daughters. No non-vegetarian was eaten by villagers during this Bodrai Festival.
Politics
Politically Kethepally village is not so strong. No one became MLA so far from this village. Kethepally has both Congress and Communist parties. Congress party members also became sarpanches. The popular sarpanch was Late. Madhanu Baalaiah (Panthulu Balaiah) (Telugu: పంతులు బాలయ్య). Kalva Showreelu (Telugu: కాల్వ శౌరీలు) elected as Deputy Sarpanch (Telugu: ఉప సర్పంచ్).KOTA NARSAIAH, KOTA PRASAD, Rachakonda Yadagiri, Rachakonda Yadagiri, Mrs. Patteti Yashoda, Badugula Sriniwasyadav, Bolla Narsimhareddy, Krishnareddy, kota mallikarjun and are other prominent political leaders from Kethepally.
