History

The four partners announced their intention to form an academic health science centre in April 2008.[2][5] On 9 March 2009 the UK Department of Health announced that King's Health Partners would be one of five academic health science centres established in England.[6]

In February 2012 it was announced that King's Health Partners and Guy's and St Thomas', King's College Hospital and South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trusts were developing a business case for a full merger of their organisations.[7][8] A strategic outline case for the merger was published in July 2012.[9][10]
