Kuli Kuli Inc. is a food business based in Oakland, CA, and the second company to introduce Moringa oleifera to the US market in the form of nutrition bars and powders. Moringa is a nutritious plant food.[1] Kuli Kuli's CEO, Lisa Curtis, started the company after working with moringa in the Peace Corps. Kuli Kuli works with women-owned farming cooperatives in West Africa to grow moringa and sell it as Kuli Kuli foods and powders.[2]

History
Kuli Kuli was founded by Lisa Curtis, Valerie Popelka, Jordan Moncharmont, and Anne Tsuei. As a Peace Corps Volunteer in Niger, Curtis was introduced to moringa and upon returning to the US, she began to explore how to introduce moringa to US markets.[3]
Kuli Kuli sources its Moringa oleifera from women's farming cooperatives in Ghana, West Africa.[4][5]
Funding
Kuli Kuli has raised startup capital and its first round of investment through crowdfunding.[3] On May 6, 2013, Kuli Kuli launched an Indiegogo campaign that raised $52,997 for fund for the first manufacturing run.[2]
Products
There are currently three flavors of Moringa Bars: Crunchy Almond, Black Cherry, and Dark Chocolate. Pure Moringa Vegetable Powder is an Organic Certified moringa powder made from the dried and milled leaves of the tree Moringa oleifera.
