Kuli Kuli Inc. is a food business based in Oakland, CA, and the second company to introduce Moringa oleifera to the US market in the form of nutrition bars and powders. Moringa is a nutritious plant food.[1] Kuli Kuli's CEO, Lisa Curtis, started the company after working with moringa in the Peace Corps. Kuli Kuli works with women-owned farming cooperatives in West Africa to grow moringa and sell it as Kuli Kuli foods and powders.[2]

Mission

Kuli Kuli's mission is to provide moringa products.

History

Kuli Kuli was founded by Lisa Curtis, Valerie Popelka, Jordan Moncharmont, and Anne Tsuei. As a Peace Corps Volunteer in Niger, Curtis was introduced to moringa and upon returning to the US, she began to explore how to introduce moringa to US markets.[3]

Kuli Kuli sources its Moringa oleifera from women's farming cooperatives in Ghana, West Africa.[4][5]

Funding

Kuli Kuli has raised startup capital and its first round of investment through crowdfunding.[3] On May 6, 2013, Kuli Kuli launched an Indiegogo campaign that raised $52,997 for fund for the first manufacturing run.[2]
