Outfest is an LGBT-oriented film showcase and festival in Los Angeles. Founded in 1982 as the "Gay and Lesbian Media Festival and Conference", the name was changed to Outfest in 1994.[1][2] Outfest is the leading organization with a stated mission of promoting equality by creating, sharing and protecting LGBT stories on the screen.

In September 2016, Outfest held its first traveling film festival in Northampton, Massachusetts at the Academy of Music Theatre.
