1 1925 First National Conclave Warrensburg, Missouri Central Missouri State Teachers College With the installation of Zeta chapter at Northeastern State College in Oklahoma, the Fraternity had met the Constitutional requirement to have 5 chapters before hosting the first national meeting. Founder Emmett Ellis was elected the first Grand President. The First National Conclave convened and adjourned on the same day. [1][2]
2 1926 Second National Conclave Kirksville, Missouri Northeast Missouri State Teachers College [1]
3 1927 Third National Conclave Emporia, Kansas Emporia State Teachers College Delegates created a central office and the position of Executive Secretary to coordinate expansion and record keeping. Thomas M. Hutsell of the Beta Chapter (Northeast Missouri State Teachers College) was elected the first Executive Secretary and set up the office in his apartment in Kirksville. The name of the magazine was changed to 'The SAGA'. [1][3]
4 1927 Fourth National Conclave Pittsburg, Kansas Pittsburg State Teachers College The Fourth Conclave saw the introduction of a complete line of badges and insignia. The associate pin was approved. Brother Hutsell presented the chapter efficiency cup, now the Thomas M. Hutsell Chapter Efficiency Award, for the first time. [1][3]
5 1928 Fifth National Conclave St. Louis, Missouri Statler Hotel First convention held outside of a location with a chapter. Delegates voted to hold conventions biennially and adjusted the tenure of Fraternity officers accordingly. [1][3]
6 1930 Sixth National Conclave Kansas City, Missouri Muehlebach Hotel Executive Secretary position is now appointed by the Grand Council, now Board of Directors, to prevent volatility in staffing based on voting results. [1][4]
