Squirrel Boy is an American animated series created by Everett Peck for Cartoon Network.[2] Before Squirrel Boy, Everett Peck was known for creating Duckman on USA Network from 1994 to 1997. It premiered on July 14, 2006 and ended on December 30, 2007, with a total of 52 eleven-minute episodes; finally, a series of six shorts was released in 2008 from January 11 to April 10.
Overview
Squirrel Boy centers on the life of an odd boy named Andy Johnson (Pamela Adlon) and his anthropomorphic pet squirrel, Rodney (Richard Horvitz), who is full of crazy ideas and get-rich-quick schemes. In the family are Bob (Kurtwood Smith), Andy's pessimistic and unlucky father who dislikes Rodney; and Lucille (Nancy Sullivan), Andy's cheery, happy-go-lucky, and mild-tempered mother.
Andy and Rodney are arch-enemies with a rowdy boy named Kyle (Billy West) and his anthropomorphic parrot, Salty Mike (Carlos Alazraqui), who constantly pick on Andy and Rodney and act as bullies towards them. Other characters in the show include: Oscar (Jason Spisak), Andy's nerdy human friend with overprotective parents, Leon (Tom Kenny), a stray blue squirrel who is Rodney's friend and lives in a tree in Andy's backyard; and Darlene (Monica Lee Gradischek), a yellow stray squirrel who is Rodney's love interest.
Broadcast
The series was shown in reruns from September 28, 2007 to July 2008. It temporarily returned to Cartoon Network's schedule in February 2009, but left shortly after and has not been seen since.
