List of television shows set in Los Angeles
This is a list of television shows set in the Greater Los Angeles Area (including Los Angeles and Orange County communities such as Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, Malibu, and Newport Beach). By conventional wisdom, the fact that overwhelming numbers of American television shows are made in Hollywood studios might mean that Greater Los Angeles is often the cheapest and most convenient location in which to set or film a program (except for those series filmed entirely inside a studio). However, a comparable number are made or set in metropolitan New York City, where around 150 were set and/or filmed. This would entail more expense and inconvenience due to movement of equipment and actors, refuting the "convenience and economy" argument.
