History

Localwise was co-founded by Ben Hamlin and Maya Tobias after graduating from University of California, Berkeley’s Haas School of Business in June 2014. The company was incubated in SkyDeck, a UC Berkeley incubator and accelerator.

Localwise has built a network of partners with notable academic institutions, nonprofits, and governments. For instance, in January 2016, the company is hosting a Startup Job Fair in partnership with the City of Berkeley’s Office of Economic Development. The job fair’s theme is inclusive employment.

In 2015, Localwise was nominated for the Most Innovative Newcomer at the Oakland Indie Awards. The founders, Ben Hamlin and Maya Tobias, were also recognized by Diablo Magazine in 2015 as two of the top 40 under 40 in the East Bay (San Francisco Bay Area).
