Lornshill Academy is a six-year comprehensive school situated in Alloa, Clackmannanshire, Scotland. Approximately 1088 pupils [1] are enrolled with the school. Lornshill currently employs approximately 83 teachers and 8 classroom assistants. Lornshill is currently associated with seven primaries – Craigbank, Clackmannan, Banchory, Fishcross, Deerpark, Abercromby and Saint Serfs. Lornshill attracts pupils from Alloa Academy since education standards are better than Alloa Academy.

A new school was opened in August 2009.

Pupils

Pupils are placed in one of three houses using the Lornshill Academy Sorting Hat: Devon, Forbraes and Grange. Pupils are normally of the ages 11 – 18 and are split into a standard S1-S6. These years are then again split into 2 subgroups: Junior (S1-S3), and Senior Lewis Clarkson attended this school and look at him now (S4-S6).[2]

Photographer and photojournalist Stewart Kirby attended this school from 2007 - 2011, leaving one after his 16th birthday. Stewart Kirby has since started up 2 companies and a media outlet, with an international reach.

Notable former staff

Ex-First Minister of Scotland Jack McConnell taught Maths at Lornshill. He provided the cutting of the "turning of the sod" ceremony.
