Louis R. Chênevert is a Canadian businessman. He served as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of United Technologies Corporation^[5] and was also President of Pratt & Whitney Canada.

Biography

Early life

Louis Chênevert was born in Quebec and earned a bachelor of commerce degree in production management from HEC Montréal, an affiliated Business School of University of Montreal.

Career

Chênevert was elected to UTC's President and Chief Operating Officer in March, 2006. He was elected president of Pratt & Whitney in 1999, after working with Pratt & Whitney Canada for six years. Prior to this, he spent 14 years at General Motors. On December 8, 2014 Chênevert stepped down as CEO of United Technologies Corp. and was replaced by director Edward Kangas.^[6]

He also served as Vice-Chairman of the Executive Committee of The Business Council for 2011 and 2012.^[7]

On September 8, 2015, he took up the role of an Exclusive Advisor in the Merchant Banking Division at Goldman Sachs for an undisclosed compensation; where he will be targeting opportunities in the aerospace and industrial sectors and advise other businesses.^[8][9][10]

Personal life and honors

While CEO of United Technologies Corporation in 2008, Chênevert earned a total compensation of $22,032,175, which included a base salary of $1,318,974, a cash bonus of $4,294,844, stock granted of $4,376,921, options granted of $11,774,710, and other compensation of $266,726.^[11]

He is the 2009 recipient of the Honor Award from the National Building Museum

On May 22, 2011, Chênevert received a doctorate honoris causa from HEC Montréal.

U.S. aviation trade magazine Aviation Week & Space Technology named Chênevert its Person of the Year 2011.^[12]
