Biography

Lua Blanco is the daughter of musician Billy Blanco Junior and musician and English teacher Maria Claudia Blanco. She was born in São Paulo and currently resides in Rio de Janeiro. She was raised in a large family, with her older brother Pedro and the four younger siblings; Ana Terra, Estrela, Daniel, and Marisol. They were home-schooled by their mother in both English and Portuguese. The family moved often, including living in Peru for two years; so the children often entertained themselves in music and social projects.

She performed in musicals from a very young, with her parents and siblings. As a child, she recorded an album called "The Rainbow Train" which comprises children's songs in Portuguese and English.[19]

Lua Blanco started her acting career in 2008 in the Rede Globo telenovela Três Irmãs, playing Bia, then appearing in the following year in Malhação.[20] She is a member of the band "Lágrima Flor", as a singer.[21] Lua Blanco temporarily left the band to play the lead role, Roberta Messi, in the 2011 Rede Record telenovela Rebelde.[22][23]

At eighteen, she began her musical career, performing at venues in Rio de Janeiro, with the Blanco Family group, for two years (2005 and 2006) with a repertoire of Bossa Nova and The Beatles. In this project with the whole family, recorded another CD, Family Blanco – It's Christmas (2004). In 2006, still in college, Lua rode with her colleagues her first band, the "Lagrima Flor". The group's name is a tribute to one of the songs from her grandfather, the musician Billy Blanco, plus vocalist Lua was responsible for composing the songs for the band, involved in a new project, after five years had to leave the band.

2011 – 2013 – success in Rebelde

2011 was a watershed in his career, the year she became known for playing one of the protagonists of the Brazilian version of the soap opera Rebelde, living Roberta Messi (Rede Record). In late 2010, Lua passed a battery of tests, including acting, dance, voice and others to finally live the rebel Roberta. The selection of the six protagonists lasted four months and had about 600 candidates. The novel began on March 21, 2011, and reached its final chapter on October 12, 2012, divided into two seasons and 410 chapters. Had the typical story of everyday life of young people living in a school in semi-boarding, and faced typical dramas of their ages, beyond the issues that caused the plot throughout the novel, such as alcoholism, bullying, eating disorders, family problems, among others. Written by Margareth Boury and directed by Ivan Zettel, is inspired by the eponymous Mexican telenovela Pedro Damián.

Beside Arthur Aguiar, Chay Suede, Mel Fronckowiak, Micael Borges and Sophia Abrahçao, was inaugurated off the Rebeldes band (who came up with the novel, and gained the Brasil with about 90 shows over three years), with the first Rebel Tour, which began on October 30, 2011 and ended on January 30, 2012. Earlier in 2012, the six protagonists of the novel embarked for Buenos Aires, Argentina, where they recorded commercials for specialized products to combat pimples, only months after we discovered that it was the Asepxia and they were aired in the media (which even was an official sponsor and took the name of one of the touring band). On April 11 the same year, it launched the first live album and DVD of the group, the Rebels Live. The CD and DVD were taken from a show in São Paulo, earning a gold record, by 40 000 copies sold and DVD equivalent to 50 000 copies platina, respectively, and together yielded 140,000 copies. Along the DVD was released a music video of the song, which is unprecedented, "Nothing Can Stop Over", and subsequently, in June the song "After the Rain" also would become one more single, containing behind the scenes and show band. Already on December 9, 2012, was released the second album in the studio side of the Rebels, Meu Jeito, Seu Jeito (My Way, Your Way(, with an initial print run of 20,000 copies.
