"MCs Can Kiss" is the first single from Uffie's debut album Sex Dreams and Denim Jeans. It was first exclusively released digitally on January 12, 2010[2] and was officially released as a 12" vinyl on February 1, 2010 through Ed Banger Records, just months before Uffie's debut album is due to be released. The single was written by Uffie and produced by fellow Ed Banger Records artist and friend, Mr. Oizo. "MCs Can Kiss" contains a sample from "Night Drive" by Giorgio Moroder and the release includes three remixes by Zombie Disco Squad and Starkey.[3]
On March 11, 2010, a remix of "MCs Can Kiss" by Mike D was released digitally through Uffie's official website as a free download.[4][5] A remix by DSL featuring Japanese deejay Mademoiselle Yulia was released to iTunes on September 29, 2010.[6]
"MCs Can Kiss" was a surprise underground hit in Japan, peaking at number 48 in the Japan Hot 100[7] and also managed to successfully chart in France as well.[8]
Critical reception
"MCs Can Kiss" received positive reviews describing it as “an old school soundclash of heavy beats and sharp rhymes" and "shows off the French-American's ballsy schtick to full effect."[9][10] Gigwise went on to say that the single was "a razor-sharp lyrical assault with enough bombast to fuel the war in Afghanistan."[11] Also, MCs Can Kiss charted successfully in Japan, as well as France.[7][8]
