Madrasa Al-Baqiyathus Salihath (Arabic: مدرسة الباقيات الصالحات) is an Islamic religious seminary in Vellore, Tamil Nadu, India that was established in 1857 or 1866.
This is known as the "Mother Madarasa of South India" similar to Darul Uloom of the north. The founder of the Madarasa "A'la Hadrat Shah Abdul Wahhab" (Rahmathullahi alahi) is one of the students of Holiness Al Arifbillah Qutbuz Zaman Syed Abdus Salaam Ibrahim (Saalim Hazrat), the third of Madurai Maqbara hazrats in Madurai.
The Imams of the Madarasa played a vital role in forming the strong Islamic institution in South India. The famous Tamil translation of Al-Quran by Hazrat Moulana Abdul Hameed Bakavi(Rahamathullahi Alaihi) was acknowledged by the eminent Muftis and Alims of this Madarasa.
The seminary propagates the Sunni Islam and was founded by Shaykh Shamsul Ulama Shah Abdul Wahab also called as A'ala Hazrat or A'ala Hadrat. The graduates of this Madarasa are known as Baqavi (Baqawi, Baquavi, Baqvi, Bakavi, Bakawi). This Madarasa had produced a good number of well-known Islamic Scholars.[1][2]
