Marano Lagunare is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Udine in the Italian region Friuli-Venezia Giulia, located about 50 kilometres (31 mi) northwest of Trieste and about 35 kilometres (22 mi) south of Udine. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 2,025 and an area of 90.2 square kilometres (34.8 sq mi).[1]
