Marc Cushman

Marc Cushman is the author of These are the Voyages - TOS: Season One (Jacobs/Brown Press 2013), a 580-page detailed history covering the first season of Gene Roddenberry's Star Trek: The Original Series. This, the first of a three-book series, makes extensive use of memos between Roddenberry, his staff, the network and the studio, production schedules, budgets and TV ratings to document the making, the writing and production of each episode.[1]

Career

Cushman is also the co-author of I Spy: A History and Episode Guide to the Groundbreaking Television Series (McFarland & Company 2007), an examination of the first TV series to cast a white actor (Robert Culp) and black actor (Bill Cosby) opposite one another with equal billing, and filmed around the world.[2]

Cushman has also worked as a screenwriter, both for film and television, as well as a director and producer. His small screen credits include the television series: "Star Trek: The Next Generation", "Diagnosis: Murder", "Beyond Belief", "Skin", "Bachelor Pad: The Original Series", and "Channel K", the later two of which he also served as creator and producer. His film credits include: "In the Eyes of a Killer", "Magic of Christmas II", "Teresa's Tattoo", "Midnight Confessions", "The Story of O: Untold Pleasures", and "Desperately Seeking Paul McCartney" for which he also served as director and producer.[3]

Cushman also authored the foreword of "To Boldly Go - Rare Photos from the TOS Soundstage: Season One" by Gerald Gurian (Minkatek Press 2016).

Cushman is a seven-term president of Los Angeles, California based Alameda Writers Group (AWG), which began in 1992 as a co-venture between screenwriters working at NBC and Disney Studios, both based on Alameda Boulevard in Burbank, CA, explaining the group's name and place of origin.[4]

Cushman has taught screenwriting at Los Angeles based universities including, currently, Pierce College, Woodland Hills, California.[5]

Cushman was awarded a Saturn Award in 2014 in a special recognition category for his work on These are the Voyages.[6]
