Marcello Tahitoe or an simply stage name Ello (born February 20, 1983) is an Indonesian singer. In addition, Tahitoe also appeared in several advertisement in television.
Early life and career
Marcello Tahitoe was born on February 20, 1983, on Jakarta, to musician and songwriter Minggus Tahitoe and senior pop singer of Batak descent Diana Nasution. Tahitoe has two oldest brother and one youngest brother. His singing talent passed from both of parents which has been well known as an artist.
Sony BMG Indonesia began signed a recording contract for him and in 2005, he has releasing self-titled debut album and repackaged version in 2006 with hits single "Pergi Untuk Kembali" which written by his father Minggus. Its album has sales of more than 150.000 copies and obtain to platinum certification. In addition, its album making Tahitoe awarded for Best Pop Album and Best of the Best Newcomer at Anugerah Musik Indonesia in 2005.
After three years later, Tahitoe has return to local music industry and releasing his second album in 2009, titled Realistis/Idealis by Sony Music Entertainment Indonesia, where he moving signed from his previous label Sony BMG Indonesia. First single from his album "Masih Ada" has return to earned more successful, like his debut single "Pergi Untuk Kembali". Still same of year, Tahitoe has collaborated with several musician Lala Karmela, Ipang Lazuardi and Saint Loco for singing the themed-song of advertisement to brand Coca-Cola, "Semangat Baru".
In 2012, Tahitoe has releasing third studio album Taub Mumu which had derived from the reversal of the phrase "Buat Umum" and has producing hit singles "Gak Kayak Mantanmu" and "Yang Ku Nanti". Tahitoe decided moving his genre music from pop to alternative[1] and changed his stage name became Marcello Tahitoe.[2] After that, Tahitoe has working his fourth album Jalur Alternatif (2015) with several producer, including Musikimia' member Yoyo and launching the single "Berdiri Sampai Mati" which had awarded as 2016 Best Rock Solo Artist in Anugerah Musik Indonesia.
