Day mixes styles and ideas creating an alchemy of sound and visuals to portray how our lives are ever changing, metamorphosing from caterpillar to butterfly, or rising from the ashes like a phoenix.
The elements are also metamorphic, water evaporating into air, earth being transformed by fire to lava. Without change, life is not possible.

A CMJ New Music Report ( [1] (featured review in the 'Futures' section) is below.
"Margot Day has already recorded a debut full-length album and has gained some notoriety for working with the Beastie Boys’ Adam Yauch and Nada Surf’s Ira Elliot on various projects. Her new self-titled EP continues to document her intense songwriting style and futuristic vocal and flute sounds. Day, classically trained in opera and in playing the flute, demonstrates her dramatic style with electronic-based musical accompaniment and dark, sensual vocals. Vocally, she’s similar in style to Kate Bush and Tori Amos...". [2]
