The Marromeu Game Reserve is a protected swath of 10,000 square kilometres (3,900 sq mi) of floodplain in the Zambezi, the only such area along the river. It was dedicated on 1 January 1969.[1] It is located near Beira.
The area is an open grassland with many rivers and streams in the Zambezi delta. It supports highest density of water birds in Mozambique.[2]
