Her husband Andrew Kalajzich served a jail sentence for murder, conspiracy to murder and attempting to use a firearm with the intent to murder. After serving 25 years in prison, it was announced on 25 January 2012 that Kalajzich would be released on parole.[1] He was subsequently released on 8 February 2012.[2]
Kalajzich and his children have continued to maintain that he is innocent of the charges.[1]
