Micrelaps tchernovi, commonly known as Tchernov's chainling,[1] is a species of venomous rear-fanged snake in the family Atractaspididae. It is endemic to the Middle East.[2]
Etymology
The specific name or epithet, tchernovi, is in honor of Israeli paleontologist Eitan Tchernov (1935-2002), who collected the holotype.[3]
Geographic range
It is found in Israel and Jordan.[4]
Description
Dorsally, a pattern of 58 (on average) black saddle-like crossbands which fail to reach the ventrals. Crossbands usually narrower than the light interspaces. Ventrally, all black.[5]
