Middle East Electricity is a trade exhibition that has been running for the past 38 years with 1,100 exhibitors from 54 countries.[1][2] The event draws more than 50,000 visitors each year[3] and is the largest and longest running energy event in the Middle East region.[4] Energy industry professionals visit from over 100 countries worldwide to do business in the power, lighting, new and renewable, nuclear and water sectors.[5][6] The event is held at Dubai International Exhibition Centre[7] in Dubai. Organised by Informa Exhibitions, Middle East Electricity is co-located with Solar Middle East and is partnered with Saudi Energy and Power Nigeria in Lagos.
The exhibition
The exhibition is held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai.[8] Exhibitors include large industrial companies, municipalities, building contractors, electrical retailers, electro-mechanical contractors, dealers and distributors, municipalities, government bodies, oil and gas companies, equipment manufactures, power producers, utility companies, power plant operators, power producers and power generation companies.
The exhibition also features an award ceremony - the Middle East Electricity Awards and two conferences - the Green Energy Middle East Conference and Solar Middle East Conference.
Awards
The Middle East Electricity Awards[9] takes place on the opening night of the event at a gala dinner and covers nine individual categories:
- Power Project of the Year
- Lighting Project of the Year
- Solar Project of the Year
- Best Innovation or Technology of the Year
- HSE Project of the Year
- Young Engineer of the Year
- Power & Water Utility of the Year
- Best Marketing Campaign Award (exhibitor award)
- Best Product Launch at ME Electricity 2014 (exhibitor award)
