Modern Works for Guitar is a 1993 album by classical guitarist Leon Koudelak.
History
The album was commissioned by the Department of Arts and Culture of the state of Vorarlberg, Austria. Koudelak was approached to record works for guitar by the Austrian composer Michael Buchrainer.
In the Tyrolis studios Fussach, the album was recorded with the then new technology of Digital Audio Tape (DAT) as a completely digital recording.
After all works by Michael Buchrainer had been recorded, the Tyrolis Music record company suggested that other works be added from contemporary composers. Although the album was commissioned, Tyrolis Music believed that with other works by famous composers, the album would be more commercially viable.
