Moo Free Ltd. is an award winning[1][2][3] British vegan chocolate manufacturer based in Reading, Berkshire. The company was established in 2010[4][5][6] by Mike and Andrea Jessop with the intent of making a dairy free chocolate with a taste similar to that of milk chocolate by using rice milk instead of conventional dairy. The concept was to ensure that vegan children or those with allergies or intolerances could have traditional seasonal chocolates such as Easter eggs and Advent calendars.[5] In addition to being vegan, the company's produce is also free from gluten and wheat, and made from organically certified ingredients.
Their flagship product is their dairy free 'milk' Easter egg, which was also their first product. Inspired by their own experiences with a lactose intolerant child, and deeming the market to still be lacking in the area, they took to trying to manufacture and market their own dairy free chocolate eggs.[5] This formed the basis of the company's founding. Since then, the company's range has expanded to include pralines, a variety of bars, and Christmas products.
The company’s products have received a number of awards and commendations,[7] including 'Best Sweets or Cakes' in the Vegfest Awards 2011, 2012 and 2013.[1][2][3]
