"Morning Dance" is the title of an instrumental recording by the noted smooth jazz/jazz fusion band Spyro Gyra. Songwriter and band member Jay Beckenstein plays the alto sax on this track. The track also features a tenor steel pan. It was released as a single from the band's second studio album of the same name in 1979, "Morning Dance" became a Top 40 hit in the United States, where it remained for eight weeks. "Morning Dance" peaked at number 24 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in July 1979 and went to #60 on the soul chart.[1] "Morning Dance" was most successful on the U.S. adult contemporary chart, where it spent a week at #1.[2] Although Spyro Gyra is well-known and has sold millions of albums worldwide, this single is the band's sole U.S. top 40 hit to date. In the United Kingdom, the song reached number 17 on the UK Singles Chart.
