The Moscow Marathon is a major running and sporting event held annually in Moscow, Russia. The official marathon distance of 42.195 kilometers (26 miles 385 yards) is set up as a city-wide road race where professional athletes and amateur runners jointly participate. First initiated in 2013, as a successor of Moscow International Peace Marathon (est. 1980), the event traditionally takes place on the last weekend in September.[1]

Moscow Marathon certified by IAAF.[2]

Moscow Marathon is one of the largest and most popular road races in Russia. In 2016 alone the race had 28,000 enrolled starters from 70 countries.

The marathon is run over a largely flat course around the Moscow river, and spans 42.195 kilometres (26 miles and 385 yards), but with paritally high elevation up to 100m.
