Naga Self-Administered Zone (Burmese: နာဂ ကိုယ်ပိုင်အုပ်ချုပ်ခွင့်ရ ဒေသ [nàɡa̰ kòbàɪɴ ʔoʊʔtɕʰoʊʔ kʰwɪ̰ɴja̰ dèθa̰]), as stipulated by the 2008 Constitution,[2] is a self-administered zone consisting of 3 townships in Sagaing Region:[3]
Those three districts were administratively part of Hkamti District.[3] Its official name was announced by decree on 20 August 2010.[4][5] The zone is to be self-administered by the Naga people. Its administrative seat is the town of Lahe.[5]
In August 2016, an outbreak of measles caused the deaths of 44 children.[6][7] The outbreak may have been caused by lack measles vaccination because of the poor health infrastructure.[8] The Naga people are mainly Christian, having been proselytized in the 19th century.[9]
