Nahid Kalhori (Persian: ناهید کلهری, born July 20, 1986) is an Iranian jailed dissident, dissident blogger and student activist.[1] In 2007 Nahid Kalhori joined the Confederation of Iranian Students (CIS) founded by Amir Abbas Fakhravar and Arzhang Davoodi. CIS is an organization that aims to institute freedom and democracy in Iran.[2] With all her talent to organizing students inside and outside of Iran Nahid became Executive Director of CIS in 2011. July 2013, CIS board of Directors elected Nahid Kalhori as the Secretary General of the Confederation of Iranian Students succeeds long standing Secretary General Amir Abbas Fakhravar.[3]
Amnesty International
On 31 May 2008, Nahid Kalhori, a 21-year-old graduate student of Biology at Qom's Azad University in Iran, got arrested by Islamic Republic of Iran's Intelligence Service. The charges, according to a family member, which were not handed to her on written, were participating in a student organization called Confederation of Iranian Students, acting against national security etc.[4] June 2008, after her arrest, a campaign called Free Nahid was started by Farinaz Aryanfar supported by Amnesty International to ask Islamic Government in Iran release Nahid Kalhori immediately.[5]
