Nathan Ross
Nathan Ross is an American film producer and former talent agent.
Early career
Ross is an Indiana University alumnus and a John Marshall Law School graduate.[1] Prior to producing, he was a motion picture agent at ICM Partners from 2003-2010 - primarily representing directors and screenwriters for film.[1][2][3][4]
He was profiled by The Hollywood Reporter in November 2008 in their "Next Gen 35 Under 35", which recognizes entertainment executives in their yearly issue.[4][5]
Film production
Recent work includes executive producer on Dallas Buyers Club (starring Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto, both of whom won Academy Awards for their performances).[6][7]) along side his directing partner, whom he also manages, Jean-Marc Vallée.[7][8] It was released by Focus Features on November 1, 2013 and won three Academy Awards (including Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor) and was nominated for six in total.
He was also executive producer on Wild (starring Reese Witherspoon and Laura Dern) and directed by Vallée for Fox Searchlight, which was released on December 3, 2014.[9]
Ross' latest film release was Demolition, which Vallée also directed, with Jake Gyllenhall, Naomi Watts, and Chris Cooper for Fox Searchlight. It was released in the first half of 2016.[10][11]
Television
Ross most recently was an Executive Producer on the HBO series, Big Little Lies, an adaptation of Liane Moriarty's 2014 darkly comic novel about three mothers of kindergartners, starring Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon.[12] The first trailer has been released, and the show is set to premiere in February, 2017. [13]
Ross is also an Executive Producer along side Jean-Marc Vallee on an adaptation of Gillian Flynn's debut thriller novel Sharp Objects, the project is currently in pre-production.[14] The project landed at HBO with an eight-episode straight-to-series first season order, starring Amy Adams.[15]
