Neal Maupay (born 14 August 1996) is a French footballer who plays for French club Stade Brestois 29 on loan from Saint-Etienne in Ligue 2. He plays as either an attacking midfielder or a winger. Maupay is a France youth international having represented his nation at under-16 and under 17 level. He also holds Argentine citizenship[1] through his mother.[2]
Club career
Nice
Maupay started his career at US Valbonne and was signed by Nice in 2007.[3] On 14 September 2012, at 16 years and 32 days, he was named in the team to face Brest in a league match two days later.[4] In this match, he made his professional debut appearing as a substitute in a 3–2 win.[5] He scored his first goal on 15 December against Evian. On 18 April 2013, Maupay underwent surgery for a ruptured cruciate ligament.[6]
Nice II
At the start of the 2012–13 season, Maupay was loaned out to Nice's second team, who play in the CFA2 to gain experience. He made his debut for the side on 26 August 2012 against Corte and scored in a 3–1 win.[7] In total he made 8 appearances for the side, scoring 8 goals.[8]
Saint-Etienne
On 10 August 2015, Maupay signed a contract with Saint-Etienne for a fee of €600k.
Brest (loan)
On 20 July 2016, Maupay agreed to a season-long loan at Brest.[9] He started the season in Ligue 2 scoring a goal each in his second, third and fourth league match.[10]
International career
Maupay has played for the France U-16, France U-17, France U-19 and France U-21 youth teams.

Personal life
Maupay was born in Versailles but is eligible to play for either France or Argentina through parentage.[3]
