Nirosha Ramki is a Sri Lankan born Indian film actress known for her works predominantly in Tamil and Telugu films. She has also starred in a few Malayalam and Kannada films and was popular in the 1990s. After her debut in the blockbuster Tamil film Agni Natchathiram (1988, directed by Mani Ratnam), Nirosha went on to appear in many successful and critically acclaimed films. She has acted in over 100 movies in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada. She was the leading actress from 1988 to 1995. After her marriage with actor Ramki she quit film-acting, But after a hiatus, in 2003 she started to work as a supporting actress.
Personal life
Nirosha was the youngest and the last daughter of the Tamil actor and comedian, M. R. Radha (Mohan Rajagopala Radhakrishnan Naidu). She has three siblings Radhika, Raju Radha and Mohan Radha. Her elder sister Radhika is also a famous leading actress. Nirosha had a clandestine affair with actor Ramki for several years. Responding to a report about their alleged secret marriage, published in a local daily, Ramki maintained that there is no truth in that story. However, they got secretly married in 1995. After 3 years, he revealed that their marriage got both his and Nirosha’s family approval. The couple currently reside in Chennai.
