CentralNic

CentralNic is a domain registry and registry service provider based in London, England that currently manages the .la and .pw extensions, and is the back-end provider for sixty new top-level domain applications.[1] It also offers subdomains under the following second level domains:[2]

These subdomains have been relatively popular and sold across a wide range of domain registrars globally, including Network Solutions, eNom, Webfusion, GMO, Gandi, Key Systems, Directi, InternetX, and many others. None of these domains is an official SLD. Therefore, that part of CentralNic's operation fulfills the definition of a private sub-domain registry. In case of the .la, .pw and new TLD domains, however, CentralNic operates as the official registry service provider of those ccTLDs and gTLDs.

History

In 2000, Stephen Dyer founded CentralNic[4] as a successor organisation to NomiNation, a company which he had founded in 1995.[5]

In 2013, CentralNic announced[6] that it planned to float on the Alternative Investment Market of the London Stock Exchange.
