Noosfero is a collaborative web platform intended for the creation of social networks. It can be used for creating blogs, discussion areas, online portfolios, event calendars, etc.[1] Noosfero was initially used by Cirandas.net, by the University of São Paulo in 2012[2] and later by the Brazilian state-owned IT company SERPRO.[3] The application integrates tools such as profiles for users, communities and enterprises, as well as a website content management system, RSS, forums, chats, events and communication inside the app itself. It can also be extended with plug-ins.
Launched in 2009, Noosfero is also a free software project developed by Colivre, a Brazilian IT cooperative, together with independent developers of the Noosfero community.
