Norma Shaw MBE was an indoor and lawn bowler born on 8 June 1937.
Norma was born near Wakefield and was the first woman to break into the male dominated televised tournaments. She won the singles Gold medal at the 1981 World Outdoor Bowls Championship in Toronto.[1] She also won medals at both the 1985 World Outdoor Bowls Championship, 1988 World Outdoor Bowls Championship, 1996 World Outdoor Bowls Championship, 2000 World Outdoor Bowls Championship and the Commonwealth Games.
Norma also won the 1997 World Indoor Bowls Championship held in Llanelli.[2]
Norma died in June 2009.[3]
