Norman Gunewardene is a Sri Lankan corporate leader and executive, who holds and has held corporate positions in Sri Lanka and the region. He is the former Chairman of Aitken Spence & Co. Ltd. which is one of the largest conglomerates in the island, Odel Investments (Pvt) Limited and Odel Foundatiom. He has been the Honorary Consul for New Zealand in Sri Lanka.

Educated at the Royal College Colombo, he joined the Royal Ceylon Navy in 1952 and had his training at the Royal Naval College, Dartmouth and the Indian Midshipman’s Training Establishment, Bombay, where he won the President of India’s plaque for the best all-round Midshipman of the course.

In 1956 he joined Bonars Ceylon Limited, a marine engineering company, and Aitken Spence and Company Limited in 1958. He was its chairman in 1995/96 and remained a non-executive director until his retirement in 2002. He served as the vice chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka, as a Member of the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission from 1997–2000 and as a director of Sri Lanka Telecom Limited from 2000–2003

He was married to Delysia and had two sons Ajit, Ruchi one daughter Otara Gunewardene.
