The North Coast Brewing Company is a brewery and pub in Fort Bragg, California, USA.
History
The North Coast Brewing Company was founded in 1988. Mark Ruedrich is the company's president and brewmaster. In 1994, they acquired the rights to Acme beer. They are currently the exclusive beer and major sponsor of the Monterey Jazz Festival, SFJazz, the Mendocino Music Festival and the Oregon Jazz Party.[1] In 2012, North Coast was the 42nd largest craft beer producer in the United States based on volume.[2]
Beers
North Coast Brewing Company currently has 19 active beers.[3] Old Rasputin has received several awards at the World Beer Cup and the 2012 Gold Medal at the Stockholm Beer Festival.
- Acme California Brown - a brown ale (discontinued)
- Acme California IPA - West Coast-style India pale ale
- Acme Pale Ale - American-style pale ale
- Anniversary - several styles have been released in celebration of the brewery's opening in 1988 (sometime denoted by Roman numerals) including X, XVI, Twentieth, and Silver Jubilee - 25th
- Barrel Aged Old Rasputin - imperial stout aged in used bourbon whiskey barrels
- Beer Engine Red - a red ale (discontinued)
- Black Hart - a dry Irish-style stout
- Blue Star[4] - unfiltered wheat beer
- Brother Thelonious[5] - a Belgian-style strong ale named in tribute of Thelonious Monk and some profits are donated to the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz
- Class of '88[4] - a barley wine produced in collaboration with Rogue Ales and distributed via Deschutes Brewery's channels
- Cru D'or - dubbel (discontinued)
- Grand Cru[6] - brewed with agave nectar and aged in used bourbon barrels
- Le Merle - saison
- Mary's Pilsner - a pilsner (discontinued)
- Old No. 38 - a dry Irish-style stout
- Old Rasputin[4] - a Russian-style imperial stout
- Old Stock Ale[4] - an old ale which is bottled in vintages and in many special editions, including one to benefit the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami in Ōtsuchi, Japan, Fort Bragg's sister city
