Northeast Christian Academy

Northeast Christian Academy (NCA) changed it's name to The Covenant Preparatory School in 2016; however, the school's mission statement remains the same. It is a private college preparatory school, in the tradition of classical Christian education, located in the Kingwood section of Houston, Texas. It is a relatively small school consisting of preschool 4 through grade 12. To enroll at the school students must pass an entrance test, have a clear academic and discipline record at their current school, and have recommendations from teachers and a pastor.

NCA has a longstanding athletic tradition, winning state championship titles in more than 3 sports. The Men's swim team won four back to back State Titles from 2000-2004. Men's Basketball has had two different runs of back-to-back-to-back state championships. The winningest coach in school history is the legandary, Richard Dardenne.

Dress Code

NCA enforces a dress code that requires students to wear uniforms that the school has selected. This dress code is in effect every day of the week except for "Dollar Denim Days" (former), and Fridays. Every Friday the students are allowed to wear blue jeans and either an NCA shirt or uniform shirt. "Dollar Denim Days" are days designated by the administration when the students pay a dollar to be able to wear the regular Friday attire on another day, but under the current head of school there are no longer "Dolar Denim Days". The funds raised from these days go either to the senior class or to another project designated by the administrators. As of the 2013-2014 school year the students are required to wear white or navy blue shoes, a navy, royal, black or white polo with the Northeast Christian Academy logo embroidered on the left side of the buttons.

Chapel

Every Thursday all students must attend a chapel service in either the school's gym or in the adjacent church. These services consist of the chapel band playing worship songs (currently inactive) followed by a guest speaker or other activity, such as small house groups. Guest speakers have ranged from school administrators to such important figures such as Ted Poe.

Academics

Northeast Christian Academy is academically rigorous, employing the Socratic Harkness Method (see Harkness Table) in the upper school humanities, and the Thayer Method[1] in the upper school mathematical sciences.
