Norway has contested 54 Miss World pageants since that pageant's inception in 1951. No Norwegian has won the Miss World title, although one has placed first runner-up in 1972.
History
Before creating new pageant in 2011, one of the two winners was selected at the Miss Norway Pageant that will compete at the Miss World. On occasion, when the candidate does not qualify (due to age), another girl is sent. Norway sent its first Miss World representative to the third Miss World pageant in 1953. Norway has never won Miss World. Its best placement belongs to Ingeborg Sørensen, 1st runner-up to Miss World 1972. Since 2011 "Miss World Norway" will select candidate to the Miss World.
