Nyamathi is located in Davangere District of the Karnataka state, India. It is approximately 65 km south of Davangere and 26 km north of Shimoga. Nyamathi derived from Kannada word Nyaya mati.

Description

This rural town served as a taluk headquarters during the reign of Wodeyars of Mysore. A commercial hub of Honnali taluk, Nyamati is famous in vegetable production (green chilly). Raghavendraswamy Math at Honnali is an age old pilgrim center about 14 km away.

The nearest town is Savalanga, 9 km south-west. The nearest airport and railway are Hubli Airport and Shimoga Town Railway Station.

This city was part of Shimoga district, later it became part of Davanagere district when new districts were formed by the then Chief Minister JH Patel, despite the protest from local people. It was also famous for Areca sales from Malnad areas. It is believed that the earlier Nelavarti has become Nyamati. Nelavarthi which was famous for Areca sales.
