Oblaat (Japanese: オブラート) is a thin edible layer of starch that wraps some candies in Japan.[1]

It is useful to preserve gelatinous sweets by absorbing humidity. It has no taste nor odor, and is transparent.

The name comes from the Dutch word "oblaat".[1]
