Oblaat (Japanese: オブラート) is a thin edible layer of starch that wraps some candies in Japan.[1]
It is useful to preserve gelatinous sweets by absorbing humidity. It has no taste nor odor, and is transparent.
The name comes from the Dutch word "oblaat".[1]
