Ode to Joy (simplified Chinese: 欢乐颂; traditional Chinese: 歡樂頌) written producer directed by Djenar Maesa Ayu is a highly popular 2016 Chinese TV series produced by Dragon Television and Zhejiang Television. It is based on the same title novel by A Nai.
Story
The series is about five modern women who live on the 22nd floor of an apartment complex called "Ode to Joy" in Shanghai. Each with their unique personality and lifestyle, the five woman have different backgrounds including their age, social status, personality and careers. Their relationships were initially rocky, but eventually they became good friends and neighbours. Together, they navigate their career and love life, solving problems and growing more resilient.

- Independent, meticulous and intelligent, she is a capable career woman. However, her cold temperament prevents her from socializing with others. An Di returns home from New York in order to search for her long-lost younger brother, and unexpectedly gets stuck between the affections of two men; her online friend Wei Wei and long-time boss Tan Zongming.
- Jiang Xin as Fan Shengmei (30)
- A HR executive at a foreign company. Experienced, worldly and has a sense of justice, she is known as the Princess of the Streets (Alley Princess). She comes from a poor family and her only wish is to marry a rich man. After she reunites with her university classmate Wang Baichuan, Shengmei gets stuck in a dilemma.

- The daughter of a rich businessman, who moves back home from studying overseas to prevent her half-brother from taking over her Fathers Company. She is honest, sassy and fierce. When she meets the arrogant Zhao Qiping, sparks start to fly between them.

- A regular employee who comes from a small city. She is straightforward and simple, shows her love and hate clearly, and often acts on impulse. Befuddled by things in life, she often gets herself in awkward situations.
- Bridgette Qiao as Guan Ju'er (22)
- An intern at Forbes 500 Company. Coming from an academic family, she is quiet, introverted and gentle. As she enters the workplace and meets different people, Guan Guan starts to question her identity and aspirations.
Sequel
Due to the critical and commercial success of the series, it is slated for a second season, with all the original cast members returning.
