Ogbe
Ogbe is a village in Ahiara city, in Mbaise, Imo State, Nigeria. It is made up of nine hamlets, namely:
- Amaoji
- Umuejere
- Umueleke
- Umuihi
- Umuihiokwu
- Umuloolo
- Umuokeawa
- Umuoma
- Umuuzu
Six of these hamlets - Amaoji, Umuejere, Umueleke, Umuihi, Umuihiokwu, and Umuuzu - are collectively referred to as Ogbe Nneisii. The Ogbe Nneisii has been accorded a full autonomous status, as well a political ward referred to as ((Ogbe Ward II)).
Ogbe is fast developing into a modern village. The people are highly successful in all fields of enterprise. Their Deity is called Alukwu. Their market Afo Ogbe is one of the richest in Igboland. The Ogbe people are well known and reputed n with their cattle business, the. Abattoir built by the people supplies about 92% cattle meat consumed daily in Imo state of Nigeria and offers a greater internally Generated Revenue (IGR) to the Ahiazu Local Government. Natives and non natives consider the abattoir as a business mecca of sort. The likes of the Late Mr Festus Ohanaja and Ezeji Nicholas Ogu-Eleonu of blessed memory, with a few others are the pioneers of the cattle business of the Ogbe community.
The first Eze of the Ogbe was Eze B O Nwoko, the Eze Udo 1. Then came Eze (Dr) D O Anyanwu (Obere nwa) of blessed memory, Eze Udo II, a foremost philanthropist and industrialist who was the then Traditional Prime Minister during the reign of the Eze Udo 1.
