Playing career

Martin first played for the Adelaide Avalanche of the Australian Ice Hockey League (AIHL) in 2004.[1] During his first season with the Avalanche Martin received no ice time. The following season Martin played eight games and finished with a save percentage of 0.910.[1] After his first two season in the AIHL with the Avalanche Martin moved to Newcastle, New South Wales and signed with the Newcastle North Stars for his third AIHL season.[1] After playing the 2006 AIHL season with the North Stars Martin returned to Adelaide and re-signed with the Avalanche for the start of the 2007 AIHL season.[1] Martin remained with the Avalanche until 2008 when the team folded.[2] Following the collapse of the Avalanche Martin signed with the newly formed Adelaide Adrenaline.[1] Martin played for the Adrenaline for three seasons from 2009 until 2011, winning the Goodall Cup in 2009.[1] In 2012 Martin announced that he would be leaving the Adrenaline and be moving to Canberra.[3] After relocating Martin was approached by a number of AIHL clubs, with Martin eventually signing with the North Stars for the 2012 AIHL season.[1][3] Following the 2013 season with the North Stars Martin announced that he would not be competing in the 2014 season, deciding to focus on his career.[4]

Martin was first called up to represent Australia in 2006, where he joined the national under-18 team to compete in the 2006 IIHF World U18 Championship Division II Group B tournament being held in Elektrėnai and Kaunas, Lithuania. Australia finished third while Martin, playing four games, finished with a save percentage of 0.839.[5] In 2012 Martin was selected for the national senior team to compete in the 2012 IIHF World Championship Division I Group B tournament being held in Krynica, Poland. Australia finished last and were relegated to Division II Group A for the following year while Martin was played in only one of the teams five games, conceding six goals.[6]
